I came across these chic flower pots on Amazon. I love the practicality of the chalkboard label, and it’s so useful for identifying herb plants. Wanting to make my own pots, I rummaged through the shed and found a collection of old terracotta pots in need of reviving. Mom, Sharon & I pulled out some paintbrushes & chalkboard paint and started crafting!

Revive Old Terracotta pots using masking tape

First, I marked out an area on the flower pot with masking tape. I tore the edges for a rustic look.

Then I applied chalkboard paint inside the masking tape.

To speed up the drying process, I used a hair dryer.

Then, I applied two more coats for solid coverage.

I pulled off the tape…

And the label is complete!

I made another one using the straight edge of the tape rather than a ripped edge.

I also tried using fancy-edged scissors to cut a design in the tape. This was a little tricky. I had to pull the tape taught and cut very slowly.

The tape was applied to the old terracotta pot in the same way.

Mom added some stenciling to hers.

Sharon used a pot with some worn appliques.

Sharon placed her label on the bottom of the pot.
