Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is just around the corner so I have been trying to decide what to get my mom this year.  If you’re in need of something to give your mom check out these Mother’s Day gift ideas that I’ve come up with.

Front complete

To start off, why not try making a handmade Mother’s Day card?  Mom loved them when we were kids and she will appreciate the thought and effort you put into making something especially for her.  Sharon has instructions for making your own Easter cards here and they could easily be adapted to Mother’s Day.

An old standby for me is to give a homemade piece of jewelry such as a necklace or bracelet.  For a personal touch try incorporating the colors of you and your sibling’s birthstones or create a pendant out of something you know has special meaning for her.  Check out Amy’s Shell Necklace for some ideas on how to combine found objects and recycled beads into something new.

Not the crafty type?  Give mom the night off and cook dinner for her (and since it is Mother’s Day make sure you don’t leave her a messy kitchen to clean up!).  Check out our Food section for some great dinner and dessert recipes including the Fire Roasted Baked Ziti pictured above.

When asked what she wanted for Mother’s Day my mom listed a few household projects that she’d like to have completed.  See if there is something that needs to be done around the house or yard and offer to help out.  Amy made some neat printable coupons that are perfect for this; just print them out and fill in the details.  Also included are some nice printable gift tags that you can use.

Still need a few more Mother’s Day gift ideas?  Purchase a gift certificate to a local spa and treat mom to a day of relaxation.  Make a donation to one of her favorite charities in her name.  Get her tickets to the theater, a sporting event, or a museum and spend the day together.

What special things are you planning for your mom this Mother’s Day?
