Celebrating 4th of July

Celebrating 4th of July

Celebrating 4th of July with BocceeTo celebrate Independence day I enjoyed a fun activity with my family and my dogs. On the 4th of July, we visited our local park and utilized their bocce court. Bocce is a game involving one small ball (about the size of a ping pong ball) and 4 pairs of larger balls (a bit bigger than tennis balls). The smaller ball is thrown first and then the players take turns trying to get their two balls closest to the first ball. We had a lot of fun playing this. River, my Golden Retriever and Gomer, my fearful foster dog that is working on confidence building enjoyed watching all the balls move around the court. It was a great outing for both the dogs and their humans. We made sure to come home in plenty of time before dark to avoid the noise of the 4th of July fireworks. Although, River who is very sensitive, has never seemed to mind thunder storms and has not really seemed to be concerned with the noise of fire works either. It is a good idea to keep a close eye on your dogs to make sure they are not panicking as a result of all the loud bangs associated with the 4th of July.

Did your dogs get to celebrate today? What fun activities did they participate in?

I have a passion for dog training. My Golden Retriever, River and I enjoy embarking on fun adventures! We enjoy learning new and fun dog sports and participating in doggy activities. I particularly enjoy teaching River tricks and he particularly loves anything that has to do with cookies, chasing squirrels, playing and generally having a good time. I am also an artist who enjoys painting, photography and other creative mediums.
